Nutrition

at Weitz Sports Chiropractic and Nutrition

I am Dr. Weitz and I am available for individual nutritional consultations, exclusively on Thursdays and other days by special arrangement.  I have studied nutrition for over 20 years and I am a certified FirstLine Therapy Nutrition Healthcare Provider, one of the top rated nutrition programs, developed by Dr. Jeffrey Bland, one of the pioneers in the integrative nutrition field.  I have taken over 250 hours of post graduate training in nutrition and have given over 25 lectures/talks on nutrition at various libraries, community centers, at Whole Foods Markets, for the Santa Monica COOP, and at various corporations, including Fox Television, the 1-800 Dentist offices, Guggenheim Financial, Medtronics, Summit Entertainment, and Greene Broillet and Wheeler.

After completing a health history form and questionaires, I will sit down with you and listen to you as we discuss your health history, your symptoms, and your concerns in detail.  I will examine laboratory test results taken by your medical doctor or I may recommend you go back to your MD for additional tests.  Or I may recommend running laboratory tests, such as vitamin testing, hormone testing, food allergy testing, or other relevant blood, urine, saliva, stool, or hair testing in order to get information to help you feel better and improve your health.  In office blood sugar testing and urine analysis for ph is often provided.

Then I will weigh you, measure you, and perform bioimpedance analysis for body composition.  Bioimpedance analysis provides useful information about the amount of fat, muscle, and water in your body, including how much water is inside versus outside your cells (an indication of inflmmation or toxicity), as well as your basal metabolic rate (BMR).  The BMR is the rate at which you burn calories at rest.  This figure provides a baseline figure for how much food to eat.  Then I will design a sample nutritional program for you based on your needs and preferences with numerous substitutions and recommendations for supplements.  It will be easy to follow and does not require weighing your food or counting your calories.

Every program is individualized and based on your goals, your unique physiology, your health history, and scientific results from bioimpedance and laboratory testing.  I base all of my recommendations on the latest scientific research on health and nutrition, along with my decades of clinical experience, as well as my intuition.  I have worked with clients of all ages and with various health conditions, including obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, hypo/hyperthyroidism, post menopause, autoimmune diseases (including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and multiple sclerosis), neurological diseases, adrenal dysfunction (burn out), osteoporosis, and even cancer.  I have helped clients lose hundreds of pounds of fat, improve their sports performance, lower their cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood pressure, reverse their diabetes, and get various other chronic diseases under control.

Each time you come in we will repeat the bioimpedance analysis, so we know whether the weight you lose or gain is coming from fat or muscle or water.  Weight loss should come from fat while weight gain should come from muscle.  Quick weight loss programs often result in the loss of water, which is just temporary.  And they may result in the loss of muscle, which will slow your metabolic rate (BMR).

Make an appointment for a consultation and let me help you get on the road to better health.  As your personal health coach, I will be dedicated to helping you achieve your goals.  Or consider signing up for our 12 week FirstLine Therapy nutritional counseling program at a discounted rate, which includes an initial consultation, plus follow up visits once per week for 4 weeks, followed by one visit every two weeks for 8 additional weeks.  There’s no time like the present to start feeling better!
